Pause That Refreshes
This is a frame I made of Kim and Danny Underwood on March 13th, 2010. It reminds me of a Coca-Cola poster. Kim and Danny, who dated in High School, had just reunited after several years and were not yet married. The temperature was shouldering up hard against 100 f in that part of the Mojave Desert that day, so the cold drinks in Roy’s reefer were quite welcome.
There was something about the scene that prompted me to shoot nearly twenty frames; the combination of the iconic Roy’s sign, the nostalgic police cruiser, the classic-looking Road Star motorcycle, and the promise of an endless desert road, Route 66, ready for riding.
