Train in the Mojave

This photograph was made in the Mojave Desert with a Nikon D200 during a run with my motorcycle riding group. The view is from Amboy Crater toward the east. The town of Amboy is just behind the train. The Old Woman Mountains are in the distance. The photo was made in March, which explains the large amount of greenery, a result of late winter rains.

The gravel road in the foreground is the driveway to the viewing area for Amboy Crater. The larger (wider) east-west road running from Amboy over the rise in the east is Route 66. The second east-west road (on the right) is a gravel service road.

As always, click on the photograph to view the larger version.
