Self Portrait with Flashlight
Watching daylight fade in the east, I was thinking about how much I like the way the orange streetlamps illuminate the Shamel Ash trees on my street. But I shoot that nightscape too much.
Since I was just playing, I thought I’d “ghost” myself into the nightscape using a small LED flashlight that emits a cold bluish light.
I shot this with the Lumix G1, a camera that is not supposed to be good for low-light photography. The only adjustment I make to shoot with this camera at night is to use manual focus. Under these conditions, the Autofocus will hunt for focus, then suddenly give up at a point that assures a nice blur.
