The Lone Egret

I keep spotting lone egrets. I see them in ponds near Sycamore Canyon. I see them along the Pacific coast, and in Mono Lake on the shoulder of the Sierra Nevadas. I see them at the Salton Sea every time I’m there.

Maybe the pair bond is not particularly strong for that animal. It is a mystery to me. I suppose I should look for the reason for so many lone egrets. This photo is yet another lone egret at Fairmount Park, in Riverside, California.
