Central Coast Landscapes

These photographs were made in June, 2011. Lisa and I were on a multi-day road trip along the Central Coast in the Subaru. One of our destinations was the Big Sur area, and our timing couldn’t have been better. That stretch of the Pacific Coast Highway had been closed for months due to landslides, but opened up as we headed north to Santa Cruz. Three days later we were able to drive through, though often on one-way stretches.

Monterey Peninsula was shrouded by clouds when we took the 17-Mile Drive (conveniently located just off Highway 1). The photos from that area are muted, nearly monochrome in the misty light.
